Attributed to Karl Hagenauer, Austrian, 1898 to 1956, Art Deco manner figural group representing three African Native boys with feathers on their heads, sailing a canoe. Made of blackened brass and attached to the base, a bakelite boat with white painted accents. Unsigned. Circa: mid 20th century. Karl Hagenauer was an Austrian designer best known for his Art Deco sculptures. Often inspired by African art, Hagenauer explored an aesthetic similar to Pablo Picassos early Cubist paintings, which were also influenced by North African masks and figurines.
