Inscribed in pencil, lower left. Matted. additionally inscribed in pencil, Dmitriev, on the backside. Vladimir Vladimirovich Dmitriev was a Soviet theater artist. Honored Artist of the RSFSR. He became famous in theatrical circles after his first major work stage design for the play Dawns based on the play by E. Verhaeren at the RSFSR 1 Theater. He worked in theaters in Moscow and Leningrad, including the Theater under the direction of S.E. Radlova. After moving to Moscow in 1938, he became the leading artist of the Moscow Art Theater. M.
