An antique Victorian style, gilt mesh purse presented in the box. Circa the early 20th century. The purse is complete with a chain. The box is covered inside with a cushion made of velvet and silk. Mesh bags are form fitting and deceptively durable purses made of the same metal links used in armor. In the late 1800s, the medieval style was in fashion, so the chainmail like coin purses were stylish accessories for Victorian ladies. Total weight 155 grams.
