A vintage spelter metal figural lamp representing The Soldier of Marathon fitted with a light sconce in his raised hand cast after a famous neoclassical sculpture by Jean-Pierre Cortot, French, 1787 to 1843. Titled on the base, Soldat Spartiate, French for Spartan Soldier. This model was first sculpted in marble by Jean-Pierre Cortot, expressly for King Louis Philippe.
