An antique Russian Orthodox icon, Dont Weep For Me Mother. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with kovcheg. Circa: early 19th century. Dont weep for me, Mother is an iconographic composition representing Christ in the tomb: the naked body of the Savior is half immersed in the tomb, his head is lowered, his eyes are closed, his hands are folded crosswise.
