Lot 0175: ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX TRAVEL FOLDING ICON

An antique Russian Orthodox hand carved wooden travel triptych icon or skladen. The icon has closing and opening doors. In the center is Our Lady of Chernihiv with her son Jesus in her arms. The doors on the right and left depict St. Sergius of Radonezh and St Nilus of Stolbensk. Similar icons were carved in the 19th century by monks of monasteries for pilgrims to holy places. Circa late 19th century to early 20th century. Antique Russian Religious Items and Collectibles.
