A late 19th century Russian silver vodka cup, the finial is modeled as a finely detailed miniature sculptural composition depicting a peasant dancing with a little bear. The cup surface is engraved to resemble a wooden texture. Hallmarked with an 84 Russian Imperial silver standard, crossed anchors for St. Petersburg, assay mark with the date 1874, and the makers initials AHC presumably for Sokolov Alexander Nikolaevich, founder of a workshop for the manufacture of gold, silver and bronze products, opened in 1858.
