A mid to late 20th century Islamic calligraphy in gold leaf, lapis lazuli pigment, ink, and gouache. Central Quranic verse Nurun ala Nur, Light Upon Light is encompassed with floral ornaments. This item is a fine example of the Thuluth script that has been used for decoration since the Middle Ages. 16th-century Ottoman style. White mat, golden frame.
