A high quality antique Japanese Meiji era, 1868 to 1912, decorative brass plate. The exterior of the plate is adorned with polychrome flowers and butterflies on a white enamel ground, and painted with images of a pair of cranes in a fan shaped medallion and a pair of ducks on a pond in an abstract shaped medallion. The border features a finely detailed stylized floral motif. The backside is decorated with a swirl ornament made in the Cloisonne technique and bears a polychrome enameled flower to the center of the bottom. Unmarked.
