The Red Knight of Germany, The Story of Baron Richthofen by Floyd Gibbons. First Edition. Published by Garden City Publishing Co., NY, 1927. Hardcover. With drawings by Clayton Knight. A signed photo of the author is attached to the flyleaf. Baron Manfred von Richthofen, known as the Red Baron, 1892 to 1918, was a fighter pilot with the German Air Force during World War I. He is considered the ace-of-aces of the war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories. Floyd Gibbons, 1887 to 1939, was the war correspondent for the Chicago Tribune during World War I.
