Lot 0266: ENGLISH VICTORIAN PORCELAIN VANITY SET BY MINTONS

An antique English Victorian era semi porcelain bath vanity set of five items by Mintons. Circa 19th century. The lot includes a Pitcher, Basin, two small jugs, and a bowl with a lid. All items are created in a blue and white design with floral patterns typical of the Victorian era. Marked Mintons Empress on the bottom. Mintons was a major company in Staffordshire pottery, Europes leading ceramic factory during the Victorian era. It was a leader in ceramic design, working with a number of different ceramic bodies, and decorative techniques. As well as pottery vessels and sculptures, the firm was a leading manufacturer of tiles and other architectural ceramics, producing work for both the Houses of Parliament and the United States Capitol.
