Krishna Hawlaji Ara, Indian, 1914 to 1985, an oil painting on masonite board depicting a village genre scene. Signed lower left. Framed. Additionally inscribed and dated, on the backside. Krishna Ara is known for Nude figure and still life painting. Krishnaji Howlaji Ara was an Indian painter and is seen as the first contemporary Indian painter to meticulously use the female nude as a subject. He was a part of the Progressive Artists' Group in Bombay and was a founder of the Artists Centre in Mumbai. One of a kind artwork.
