Grigoriy Grigorievich Myasoyedov, Russian, 1834 to 1911, an antique oval oil painting on board presenting a striking portrait of Henri Brocard as a nobleman with a golden chain. Henri Afanasyevich Brocard, 1839 to 1900, was a Russian entrepreneur-perfumer and philanthropist of French origin. Collector of paintings and works of art. V. Pikul dedicated his miniature The Fragrant Symphony of Life to his activities. The painting dates circa the late 19th century. Inscribed on the label below. Framed. Grigoriy Myasoyedov, a prominent figure in the Peredvizhniki movement, was celebrated for his realist style and ability to depict the social realities of his time with great sensitivity.
