A rare pink halite on trona stone specimen. Owens Lake, Inyo County, California. Deeply saturated colored matrix and pale pink crystals. Pink halite is characterized by its unique step-like or pyramidal shape. These hopper crystals form due to a rapid evaporation process, where the outer edges of the crystal grow at a faster rate than the center, resulting in a stepped or hopper-like appearance.
