41 reviews

An ancient Olmec mask from Pre Columbian America made of green jade. The male mask has harshly carved facial features, and eyes with drilling holes in the corners. The same drill slits are in the nose, in the corners of the lips, and on the sides of the face. Such round holes were very characteristic of the Olmec civilization, holes could be used for hanging earrings and other jewelry. Comes with a black heavy stand. The Olmecs flourished during Mesoamericas formative period, dating roughly from as early as 1500 BCE to about 400 BCE. They were the first Mesoamerican civilization and laid many of the foundations for the civilizations that followed. South American Historical Collectibles, Home Decor.
