Oil on canvas painting by Manjit Bawa, 1941 to 2008, an Indian painter, student of Somnath Hore. Bawa is known for his distinctive use of color. The artwork depicts a goat and squirrel against the red background. Signed by the artist and dated 1996 on the backside. Livestock such as cows, goats and bulls are an important subject for the artist, embodying the theme of the coexistence of all creatures. Squirrels are considered sacred by Hindus and are not to be harmed. Collectible Contemporary Fine Art, Southeast Asian Artists.
