An ancient Olmec ceremonial mask from Pre Columbian America carved of jade. Circa 1100 to 500 BC. The mask represents a male face with a stern, hard expression. The item has well detailed facial features with drilling holes in the corners of the lips and on the sides of the face. Comes with a stand. The Olmecs flourished during Mesoamericas formative period, dating roughly from as early as 1500 BCE to about 400 BCE. They were the first Mesoamerican civilization, and laid many of the foundations for the civilizations that followed. Archaeological and Historical Wares, Museum Pieces, and Collectibles.
