An antique book in three volumes in Russian titled The History of Painting by R. Muter, translated by Z. Vengerova. In the book, the author provides a conceptual explanation of the key moments in the development of European art from the Middle Ages to the end of the XIX century. The first volume was published in 1899 in the Printing house of M. D. Rudometov, Saint Petersburg. The second volume was published in the printing house of E. Evdokimova, 1900. The third volume was published in the printing house of E. Evdokimova, 1901. Book have white and black pictures. Richard Muter 1860 to 1909 was a German art critic and historian, born in Ohrdruf in Germany. He studied in Heidelberg and Leipzig, where he received his doctorate.
