A Japanese enamel over copper plate or charger. The interior of the plate is adorned with a polychrome enamel image of butterflies in grape vines and flowers on the black ground made in the cloisonne technique. The borders are covered with polychrome enamel floral and foliate scroll ornaments made in the same technique. The backside is decorated with a swirl motif on the turquoise ground. Unmarked.
