An antique Japanese, late Meiji era, covered enamel over brass jewelry or trinket box. The body of the ware is enameled with floral and foliage motifs made in the Cloisonne technique. The cover features a polychrome enamel design depicting a bird and a butterfly in blossoming flowers made in the Cloisonne technique. The borders are adorned with a scaly ornament. Unmarked.
