Semen Adolfovich Malt, Uzbek, Soviet era, 1900 to 1968, black and white photograph, Self Portrait with a Son, 1929. Printed in 1998 from a glass negative. Inscribed, titled, and dated, on the backside. Semen Malt was a Soviet graphic artist, poster artist, master of book engraving and printmaking. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. S. A. Malt is an artist who laid the foundation for book and easel graphics in Uzbekistan. He is rightfully considered one of the founders of the art of printmaking in Uzbekistan.
