Color lithograph on paper by Marc Chagall, 1887 to 1985, a Russian-French Modern artist of Jewish descent. The artwork portrays a scene from the Old Testament. Having traveled with Naomi, her mother-in-law, back to her hometown of Bethlehem, Ruth goes out to the fields to glean the grain left behind after the harvest. The seated figure gesturing towards Ruth could be Naomi or Boaz, the man who owns the land underfoot. Dated 1960, from Chagalls Bible series started in 1957. Unsigned. Collectible Modernist Graphic Art Prints.
