Louis Douzette, 1834 to 1924, an oil on cardboard painting depicting a River Landscape. Signed by the artist lower right. Housed in a wonderful frame adorned with repousse grapes and vines motifs. Note: Carl Ludwig Christoph Douzette, due to his night landscapes and moods also called Moonlight, was a French-born German painter. First apprenticeship as a house painter with his father, in 1852 moved to Barth, in 1856 as a freelance house painter in Berlin, from 1860 onward regular painting trips to the Baltic Sea. 1878 study trip to Paris and acquaintance with the Barbizon school in the forest of Fontainebleau, 1895 return to Barth, 1896 appointment as professor of the Berlin Academy, from 1910 honorary citizen of Barth.
