41 reviews

A fine quality replica of the Topkapi Dagger, an emerald-studded curved dagger created in 1746 by Ottoman craftsmen to be given as a gift to the Shah of Persia, Nadir Shah. The original is now in the collection of Topkapi palace in Istanbul, Turkiye. Jambiya type. Curved decorated blade. Gilt relief sheath and handle. The sheath is adorned with rose-cut diamonds and polychrome enamel medallions depicting fruit still lives. Three large emeralds are set into the hilt and one more tops the pommel. The item comes in original box. In Islamic tradition, the color green is traditionally considered the color of the Prophet Mohammed and the concept of paradise. Thus, the inclusion of emeralds on gifts had added significance, since the stone was imbued with sacredness. Oriental Knives And Swords, Cold Weapons, Historical Collectibles.
