Yue Minjun is a Chinese contemporary artist known for his iconic images of himself laughing hysterically, often in surreal and dystopian settings. His work explores themes of individuality, conformity, and identity in contemporary Chinese society, and his signature laughing self portraits have become widely recognized as symbols of both the absurdity and resilience of the human condition. Yues work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world, and he is widely considered one of the most influential Chinese artists of his generation.
