Mixed media painting attributed to Yves Klein, 1928 to 1962, a French Modernist artist. Blue pigment and synthetic resin on board. Three-deminsional artwork with geometrical shapes in monochrome blue. Unsigned. White mat, golden frame. While travelling in Italy in 1948, Yves Klein was fascinated by the blue of the frescoes in the basilica of Assisi which was made with the lapis lazuli powder. One year later Klein created his first monochrome paintings. In 1955 he went to Paris and began the series titled Monochromes. The ultramarine blue pigment which he used for his artworks was patented in 1960 as International Klein Blue, or IKB. Collectible Mid Century Abstract Art.
