An antique Japanese Meiji period bento lacquer wooden box with three tiers and a cover. Bento boxes were commonly used for packed meals, and this lacquer example showcases the attention to detail and aesthetic sensibilities of the time. A hand-painted floral design on the surface of the bento box is a characteristic feature of Japanese lacquerware from the Meiji Period. Circa the early 20th century.
