The piece is a fine example of influence of both Japanese and Chinese art on European decorative arts in the second half of the 19th century. Footed rectangular shape resembling a pagoda. Hand-painted earthenware side panels with bird and bamboo leaf motifs, as well as landscape medallions. Figurative foo dog finial. Round dial with turquoise Roman numerals and central depiction of a butterfly on cherry branch. 8 Day movement. Unmarked.
