A mid-20th century replica of an Ancient Egyptian cat statuette by Alva Studios Co. The original dates back to the Ptolemaic period, 7th to 6th centuries BC, and is now in the collection of the Louvre museum, Paris. Green patina. Copyright attached to the bottom. In Ancient Egypt, some bronze statues of cats were created to house mummified cats and subsequently offered to the feline goddess Bastet, the goddess of the domestic sphere.
