An antique Australian 22k gold sovereign with the image of King Edward VII. Minted in 1909 in London, and at the Canadian and Australian branch mints in Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney under the reign of Edward VII. The 1909 sovereign bears an effigy of Edward VII looking to the right. This portrait was created by George William De Saulles and features the inscription EDWARDVS VII D G BRITT OMN REX F D IND IMP. The reverse of the 1909 Edward VII gold sovereign features the Italian engraver, Benedetto Pistrucci's engraving of St George killing a dragon.
