A 20th-century Egyptian cast copper sculpture of a cat. The figure is wearing a gilt collar, a scarab pendant, and an earring in the left ear. Etched inscription on the base: Ancient Egyptian Domestic Cat, Local Goddess of Bubastis. Bubastis was an ancient Egyptian city notable as a center of worship for the feline goddess Bastet, the goddess of the domestic sphere.
