A World War II Nazi German Third Reich Luftwaffe Pilot Observer badge fashioned in bi-metallic construction of white and yellow gold. The central emblem depicting an eagle clutching a swastika set completely studded with diamonds and surrounded by an engraved oak leaf wreath pattern. Unmarked. The so-called Double Badge in gold with diamonds was created as one of the most sumptuous awards of the Third Reich. Hermann Goring conceived this award during the summer of 1935, with the first bestowal taking place on 11 November 1935. During the war, on 19 October 1939, Goring raised the badges status to that of an official decoration.
