A group of three German WWII shields. The first is the German Kuban Campaign Shield or Kubanschild instituted by Adolf Hitler in 1943. The shield was for award to personnel, in all branches of service, who had served in the defensive battles in the Crimean peninsula from February 1943 onward. The bottom portion of the shield features an embossed serrated defensive line with the impressed, named, locations of the major engagements, Lagunen, Krymskaja, and Noworossijsk. The second shield is the Warsaw Shield. German campaign award for suppression of 1944 Warsaw Uprising. The design was approved, but the war ended before manufacture. The third shield is The Cholm Shield, the rarest of the German combat shields, and was awarded to those who fought in the Cholm Pocket on the Eastern Front between 21 January and 5 May 1942.
