A miniature oval enamel painting depicting a portrait of Peter The Great after the original portrait painting 1717 by Charled Boit, English, 1672 to 1723. Signed by the artist, Dubosarskaya, to the center right. Framed. A suspension ring is on the top. Peter I, 1672 to 1725, commonly known as Peter the Great, was Tsar of all Russia from 1682, and the first Emperor of all Russia. Charles Boit was the leading European enamellist during the first quarter of the eighteenth century, and enjoyed a long and successful career at the English court between 1687 and 1714 before financial difficulties forced him to settle in Paris and revive his career at the French court. Boit met Tsar Peter the Great in both England and France; in London during the Tsars visit of 1697 8 and in Paris again in 1717. On the latter occasion he was commissioned by the Tsar to produce forty enamel portraits of the Tsar. One of a kind artwork.

Overall good vintage condition. Signs of age and wear. Refer to photos. Sold as is.
