An antique 19th-century Tibetan hand-painted scroll known as Thangka, or Tanka, a Buddhist painting that serves as a teaching tool. The thangka in this lot represents Guru Padmasambhava with consorts, buddhas and bodhisattvas. Padmasambhava was a tantric Buddhist Vajra master from medieval India who taught Vajrayana in Tibet in the 8th to 9th centuries AD. Red fabric mat, golden frame.
