Janos Viski, Hungarian, 1891 to 1961 or 1965, oil painting on canvas depicting a rural scene with chickens. Signed lower right. Framed. Janos Viski was a Hungarian painter best known for his lively depictions of horses galloping through fields. He strove to capture the movement and beauty of the animals in full stride. Born in 1891 in Szokolya, Hungary, Viski went on to study under Tividar Zempler at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. The artist spent years traveling through South America and studying the gauchos and their horses, and was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1936 Salon des Beaux Arts in Paris. One of a kind artwork.
