A large Russian Orthodox lacquered papier mache Easter egg casket. The exterior of the ware is adorned with a hand painted icon image of Mother of God and Child Jesus. Inscribed with a gilded abbreviation, Christ is Risen, on the back. A red interior. Marked, Fedoskino. Fedoskino miniature is a folk craft, a type of Russian lacquer miniature painting with oil paints on papier mache, which developed at the end of the 18th century in the village of Fedoskino near Moscow.
