A highly collectible large Russian 88 gilt Silver and enamel folding Easter egg frame with an icon inside. The egg case is embellished with polychrome foliage, floral and scrollwork patterns made in the Plique a Jour technique. Completed with an enameled Silver icon depicting the Ascension of Jesus. A clasp on the side. Marked with a standard Silver hallmark and other Cyrillic and Assay marks. The plique a jour enamel is a technique in which the enamel is applied to the membranes in a thin layer, creating a luminous effect. Total weight: 413 g. Russian Silverware and Collectibles.
