Lot 0013: FRENCH PORTRAIT LITHOGRAPH BY HENRI TOULOUSE LAUTREC

41 reviews

Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, 1864 to 1901, a limited edition color lithograph on velin paper, after the original 1896 china ink wash and watercolor illustration for a short story by Romain Coolus in Le Figaro Illustre, May 1896. Signed with a monogram in the print, upper left. Framed. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec was a French painter, printmaker, draftsman, caricaturist, and illustrator born into the aristocracy in the South of France. In his art, he was preoccupied with the decadents of society, directing his attention toward the late 19th century bohemian lifestyle in Paris. Lautrec is considered a precursor of Expressionism, often viewed as a Post Impressionist artist. He remains to this day an influential figure in advertising and book illustration. European French Theatre Graphic Art Prints, Home Decor, Wall Art For Collectors.
