A lot of 4 antique Sumerian Grand Tour reproductions, cuneiform tablets. The items are rectangular and triangular and have double sided text. One of the tablets has a relief image of a ruler with a fantastic animal on his hand. Cuneiform is one of the earliest forms of writing. They wrote on soft clay with a wooden stick or sharpened reed, scratching wedge shaped words. Such objects were a popular souvenir production during the Grand Tour era, the 17th to early 19th century custom of a traditional trip through Europe, with Italy as a key destination, by upper class young European men.
