A pair of identical Japanese Satsuma pottery vases. Taisho or Showa era, early to mid-20th century. Taper shape with fluted bottomn and elongated neck. Hand-painted floral and butterfly motifs against red and green ground colors. Gilt accents. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
