David Roberts, Scottish, 1796 to 1864, a colored lithograph print depicting a view of the Tower of David, also known as the Citadel, an ancient citadel located near the Jaffa Gate entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem. Signed and dated 1841 lower left. Matted and framed. David Roberts is especially known for The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt, and Nubia, a prolific series of detailed lithograph prints of Egypt and the Near East that he produced from sketches he made during long tours of the region.
