A vintage white and gilt porcelain tea service by Rosenthal, a famous German porcelain manufacture established in 1879. Zauberflote collection, 1990. A total of 16 items, 8 tea cups and 8 saucers. Plain white cups, gilt suacers with embossed borders depicting nude figures and fruit trees. The underside of the plates bears quotes from opera arias in German. Each item is marked Rosenthal Germany, Die Zauberflote, Bjorn Wiinblad. The lot also includes a pair of gilt silver tea spoon with pierced handles, marked 830S Mylius Norway on the backside. The set comes in a decorative box. Bjorn Wiinblad, 1919 to 2006, was a Danish painter and designer who collaborated with Rosenthal for decades. Starting in 1971, he also designed an annual commemorative Christmas plate for Rosenthal. The Zauberflote series was inspired by Mozarts opera The Magic Flute.
