A pair of antique Chinese jade carvings. Late Qing dynasty, before 1912. First. Bi, a flat jade disc with a circular hole in the centre and pierced figurative ornaments on the sides. Traditionally, jade discs were used as gifts in court ceremonies. The bi symbolizes heaven or sun. The earliest bi were produced in the Neolithic period. Second.
