A vintage French cast bronze bust of Balzac after Auguste Rodin, French, 1840 to 1917. Rodins Colossal Head of Balzac in bronze from 1897. This was a study for the monument to Balzac. Signed, A. Rodin, on the bust. Mounted on a cube shaped stone stand. Balzac, a type C study, is one of the first studies carried out by Rodin in 1892, in preparation for his memorable portrait of the famous French writer Honore de Balzac.
