Hugo Matzenauer, Hungarian, American, 1923 to 2013, watercolor painting on paper depicting a battle siege of the fortress scene in a landscape, 1960. Signed and dated, upper right. Framed. Additionally signed, inscribed, dated, on a paper, on the backside. Hugo Matzenauer was a graphic artist, painter, muralist. He was born in the town of Mohacs, Hungary on November 8, 1923. In 1946 he began studying in Budapest at Hungarys prestigious Academy of Fine Arts where he graduated in 1951. His teachers were Istvan Szonyi, Endre Domanovszky, and Jeno Barcsay. Hugo Matzenauer has been exhibiting since 1948. His awards include: the Silver Medal for Graphic Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna and the Degree of General Excellence, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. His art is represented in collections throughout Europe and the United States and included in the Permanent Exhibit at the University of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria. One of a kind artwork.
