A vintage reproduction of a handcrafted stirrup spout vessel with a seated couple from the Moche civilization. Circa mid 20th century, 1960s. At the base of the handle of the vessel there is a pair of elderly people sitting on their knees, holding each others hands. The upper part of the vessel is painted yellow, the lower part red. Moche, Andean civilization that flourished from the 1st to the 8th century on the northern coast of what is now Peru. The name is taken from the great site of Moche, in the river valley of the same name, which appears to have been the capital or chief city of the Moche peoples.
