A Russian silver bratina bowl adorned with red and green gemstones to the upper rim of the lobed body. Gold washed inside. Hallmarked with 88 silver standrd and manufacturer marks. Bratina is a Slavic spherical vessel for serving and drinking alcoholic beverages, beer, honey or wine. Used in the 16th to 19th centuries at brotherly feasts and funerals. In monasteries they drank from these bowls in a circle, passing them from hand to hand. Russian Silver Drinkware Collectibles. Total weight: 269 g.
