An antique 19th-century cast spelter figurine, a reproduction of an Egyptian block statue from the Middle or New Kingdom period, second millenium BC. The block statue is a type of memorial sculpture used in ancient Egyptian funerary practices to impersonate the deceased non-royal yet important individuals. The statue typically consists of a man squatting with his knees drawn up to his chest and his arms folded on top his knees.
