Note: Jean Claude Picot is known for Fauve style landscape, still life festival and market genre painting. Acclaimed artist Jean Claude Picot was greatly influenced by the works of the Fauvist masters like Vlaminck, Derain, and Matisse, whose exuberant canvases drew great attention in the first decade of the 20th century for their revolutionary use of color, texture, and abstract form. These artists inspired Picot for decades and you can find many similar characteristics in his work. Picot developed a unique style that recalls a Post-Impressionist application of color, combined with the expressive qualities of form and line. His compositions are often calming, possessing his personal joie de vivre. He frequently captured the animation, romance, and essence of the landscape as his favored subject, although he also painted still lifes, cityscapes, markets, and festival scenes. All of his work is imbued with the same bright and cheerful character and is instantly identifiable. Modern and Contemporary European Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
